Seattle's new Hip Hop fame

Seattle has many great hip hop performers from Blue ScholarsCommon Market to Macklemore. The Otherside is a Kickstarter project that reached it's funding goal in 2011, this project is about the DIY (Do it yourself) nature of the local rap scene in Seattle, with appearances from Blue Scholars (Seattle based hip hop group formed in 2002 by Sabzi and Geologic), Fresh Espresso, Massive Monkees (B-Boy crew from Seattle), Mad Rad, RA Scion (member of Common Market), Grynch, The Physics (hip hop crew representing Seattle’s south end), Ryan Lewis and Macklemore (you probably heard about them already) and many more performers that hopefully will get your attention. People in Seattle are really excited about this "new" hip hop boom "The problem is that for the most part, hip hop artists from Seattle have historically struggled to gain mass appeal. We've heard from locals that the excitement and overall vibe of the current music scene is reminiscent of the grunge movement in the 1990s. This could be the start of something big."
